The mindfulness ‘do-it-yourself’ training is a 9 week programme. By daily practicing exercises in attention, you will create peace and quiet in your life. The exercises and assignments make you aware of your (automatic) thoughts, feelings and physical reactions. You will learn how to approach them with acceptance and when you use acceptance as a starting point, you can make a conscious decision how you want to deal with these thoughts, feelings and physical reactions. This will give you a chance to change your patterns.

The Mindfulness Training teaches you to become more aware of your thoughts, feelings and body sensations. By giving attention in the present moment, you become aware of your own automatism, your patterns, and how you keep on repeating the same (destructive) behaviour. You will learn how you can choose in awareness: do I want to invest in this thought or do I want to let it go? You are no longer enslaved by your own thoughts, feelings and actions. Instead, you will create freedom, peace and relaxation.

Being aware is a challenge for everyone: it is not easy to be present in the here and now without giving judgements. For people who suffer from stress and worrying it is not a luxury though, but a bitter necessity. You will have to change something or you have to pay for it with your health. This ‘do-it-yourself’ training is specifically designed for people who , for their own reasons, do not want or who cannot participate in a group training.

The training has a 9 week programme, it corresponds with the training as given by Rzijn. Step by step you will learn to give attention to the present moment, to be fully present in the here and now. You will follow the programme using the workbook and 6 CDs with exercises. Included in the workbook are texts, assignments and exercises as well as dilemmas you might face and explanations on how to deal with them.

Each week is assigned to a specific theme. The texts, exercises and assignments are related to this theme. To fully benefit from this ‘do-it-yourself’ training, it is important to make an appointment with yourself to practice your exercises and assignment daily during the course of the 9 weeks. ‘Practice makes perfect’ also applies to learning to give attention to the present moment. The ‘do-it-yourself’ training requires discipline and perseverance, but it is definitely worth to try!
